The refurbishment project at Cleanaway’s Eastern Creek facility focused on enhancing the operational efficiency, reliability, and safety of critical recycling equipment. The scope included comprehensive refurbishment of baler units and chain conveyor systems to support Cleanaway’s commitment to sustainable waste management and efficient recycling processes. By addressing mechanical failures, optimizing hydraulic systems, and reinforcing structural components, the project ensured the equipment operates at peak performance, meeting Cleanaway’s throughput and safety standards.
The project followed a detailed and methodical approach to restore and optimize Cleanaway’s equipment. For the baler units, the process began with a thorough inspection to identify mechanical failures, inefficiencies, and structural wear. Mechanical repairs involved replacing worn components, including hydraulic cylinders, motors, belts, and gears, which significantly improved the reliability and efficiency of the balers. The hydraulic systems were recalibrated and repaired to enhance compression force, ensuring better material output. Additionally, structural reinforcement of the balers strengthened their framework to handle higher operational loads and ensure long-term durability.
The chain conveyor system underwent a similar transformation. Damaged chain links, rollers, and drive mechanisms were replaced to restore smooth material flow. The alignment and tension of the conveyor system were adjusted to minimize wear and ensure seamless operation. A comprehensive lubrication process was carried out on all moving parts, reducing friction and prolonging the equipment’s service life. This combined approach addressed both immediate operational issues and future maintenance needs, ensuring the systems operated at peak performance.
The refurbishment project significantly enhanced the functionality and lifespan of Cleanaway’s recycling equipment. The baler units and chain conveyor systems were restored to a high level of operational reliability, dramatically reducing the risk of unscheduled downtime. With the mechanical and hydraulic optimizations, the facility achieved faster and more efficient processing of recyclables, enabling Cleanaway to consistently meet its throughput targets.
Worker safety also improved, as safety features were upgraded to meet current industry standards, reducing the likelihood of accidents. Furthermore, the service life of the equipment was extended through the repairs and optimisations, providing substantial long-term cost savings. These outcomes not only bolstered the Eastern Creek facility’s performance but also reinforced Cleanaway’s reputation for sustainable and efficient waste management practices.
